The CX202 targets the core of what any good piano student needs in their practise to thrive with grace - a great feel and a consistent and responsive sound. The 88 Grade-weighted keys feature an action dubbed the Responsive Hammer Compact II (RHCII), inspired by Kawai's top acoustic Grand Pianos. The triple sensor setup means that every ounce of expression the player puts into the press will always come out the other side as a shaped sound - exactly as an acoustic behaves.
Using the Virtual Technician via the Piano Remote app, each parameter of the touch converting into sound as adjustable to the taste and style of the player, similar to how an acoustic piano technician can adjust voicing and sensitivity by modifying or adjustng the hammers or action mechanisms. This can be done for multiple reasons from personalisation, to suiting a mix of other instruments better, or to replicate the sound of a historical recording.
Three pedals are a part of a floor unit, a damper/sustain with half-pedal capability, a soft pedal, and a sostenuto - this particular Kawai combo is the Grand Feel Pedal System. The damper also activates a special resonance as found in acoustics, so closely related notes/harmonics will ring in a subtle way that adds a vibrancy that is often missing in cheaper piano modelling systems.
Harmonic imaging has been used to create a realistic sound at any volume - this includes a process of using stereo sampling, premium recordings of the SK-EX grand piano, and a thorough 192 note polyphony.
Beyond just piano, the instrument features a total of 17 different sounds. With 6 different reverb types.
Other features/functions you may find useful include Dual, Split, Four Hand, Transpose, Tuning, and Volume Balance (this helps match perceived tonal qualities to volume as human ears don't pick up on all frequencies equally at different volumes). Also a Metronome (1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 3/8, 6/8 time signatures), MIDI via USB/Bluetooth, and an internal note recorder (Approx 10,000 notes, 3 songs, 1 part).
Included Songs/Lessons: Burgmuller 25 (Op 100), Czerny 30 (Op 849), Beyer 106 (Op 101), Chopin Waltzes (1-19), Alfreds Basic Piano Library Lesson Books 1A and 1B.
When not in use, keys can be protected from dust and bumps with a built in sliding key cover - essential for longevity.
White Satin and Rosewood colour options are also available to order.
The 2 x 12cm speakers each produce 20 W for a total of 40 W. Plenty of power for home use or a small rehearsal spaces. And if you prefer to practise silently, a headphone connection with Spatial Audio ensures your neighbours and siblings stay happy, even when you're practising up until 3AM because you were so immersed in your craft after choosing the right product at Oxygen Music. Come try one out and see our range. Perfect for home use, but not well suited to stage due to a lack of line outputs.
